Climbers heading for Kalymnos often change flights in Athens, the capital of Greece. Most of them don’t think a second time before jumping in their connection flight, eager to reach the tiny island of Kalymnos and its superb crags. What these climbers don’t realize is that by doing so, they are bypassing a fantastic climbing destination with unique climbing.

Athens has nowadays more than 33 sport climbing crags. More than 1100 fully bolted lines. And apart from tufa caves that can easily rival those of Kalymnos it has unique marble climbing in 2500 years old quarries!

A team of three local climbers / professional photographers has put a 2,5 years joint effort to collect all these crags into a modern, full-color, 280 pages guidebook. The guidebook has been written in English in order to appeal to climbers of all nationalities. Now the guidebook is ready, waiting to be printed.

The authors are asking the support for the global climbing community to put Athens, strongly in the world climbing map.

Check it out, be inspired and help them out:
